Obituary for Karen Haist
After a gathering of her loving family, Karen passed away at the Milton District Hospital, losing to her second courageous battle with cancer. Daughter of Marjorie and Frank Stuchell and Jack and Lois Swan. Beloved sister of Jack (Connie), Mike (Kim), Robert Swan (Cynthia), Debbie (Dave Stone) and her extensive number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Forever remembered and cherished by the family of her long time companion and partner Matthew Burger, his sons Mark (Erin), Kevin (Gloria) and their children and extended families who’s hearts she’s touched. Karen will be missed by the staff and customers of Spokes N Slopes, her passion for the last 12 years. Her family and friends will remember her valuable and giving personality and not expecting anything in return. Her extensive community service involved the hospital expansion campaign, the kids bike rodeos, tri-kids races and track 3 ski organization to list only a few. Memorial donations could be made to the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride www.snkcr.com/markburger which was so very near and dear to Karen’s heart.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial service at the McKersie-Kocher Funeral Home 114 Main St. E. Milton 905-878-4452 on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 2 pm with visitation starting at 1:00 pm prior.
